After Goodbye: Coping with Grief and Finding Hope to Overcome the Loss of a Loved One

The loss of a loved one can be one of the most painful experiences someone has to face. It is natural to feel a different emotions at the same time, such as sadness, anger, disbelief, and hopelessness. During the grieving process, you may also experience a series of physical and emotional symptoms that can make you feel overwhelmed.


It’s possible, even, to feel your loved ones presence in spaces you shared together, and it’s also normal to experience physical pain or have a decrease in memory and attention. Likewise, it’s common to feel fatigue, irritability, and fears such as fear of loneliness or darkness, or fears related to the person who has passed away.


However, it’s important to know that these reactions and symptoms are normal in the grieving process. They are the way your mind and body seek to adapt to the new reality you face; over time, these symptoms will decrease and allow you to gradually accept the loss.
But if you feel that these persist for a prolonged period or disabled you from carrying out your daily activities, it’s essential that you seek help. You don’t have to face grief alone. There are resources and support available to you.
